Dalton leaders recognized

Dalton produces leaders.

January 21, 2016 (Dalton, GA) - As a manufacturing hub and center of the worldwide carpet industry, Dalton has an outsized influence on Georgia, and the city is well represented in Georgia Trend magazine’s latest “100 Most Influential Georgians” list.

The list, which recognizes those who have made significant contributions that positively impact Georgia citizens, appears in the magazine’s January issue.

State Sen. Charlie Bethel, R-Dalton, was among those named to the list for the third straight year.

A Dalton native, Bethel was first elected to the state Senate in 2010 and serves as chairman of the Senate Insurance and Labor Committee. He previously served as a floor leader for Gov. Nathan Deal.

Vance Bell, chairman and CEO of Dalton-based Shaw Industries, also made the list for the third year in a row. Shaw is the largest carpet manufacturer in the world with some $4.8 billion in annual sales and more than 22,000 employees.

And Brian Anderson, president and CEO of the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce, was also named to the list. Anderson previously served as president of the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce and before that as chairman of the Whitfield County Board of Commissioners.

Dalton can be proud that it is continuing to produce leaders such as these men.
